Stone Hearths

Hearth is the inner floor of the fire place generally paved with brick, flagstone or cement. It is made of non-combustible material. They are in continuation with the design of the surrounds and the floor extending the mood of the fireplace to the last detail. These are available in a spectrum of colours in high quality glazed ceramic tiles which are suitable for all types of fuels. Polished stone hearths are equally popular. However, Granite hearths are not compatible with solid fuels as the intense heat generated may cause cracking - so it better to use such hearths with gas fires.

Stone hearths can be manufactured from a number of stones like granite, marble, lime stone etc. Hearths and surrounds are normally made of the same stone so as to give a continuity effect to the room.
