Cobblestone
Cobble stones are rounded and irregular
stones between 64mm and 256mm in size. They can be categorised as
small and large according to their size. They are used for traditional
paving techniques and are known by different names in different
countries; for example, they are also known as beach cobbles, river
cobbles or field stones.
These stones are generally found in circular or rectangular shapes.
Primarily derived from river beds, beaches, drumlins or boulder clay
deposits, cobbles are plentiful and well-distributed throughout the
land.
Stone cobbles are sometimes used as paving deterrent. It refers to
pavements constructed in such a way as to impede or discourage foot or
vehicular traffic.
Cobble stones can be of marble, granite limestone or slate.
Cobblestone pavements have a rustic appeal. They are durable,
affordable and hard surfaced.
