Buddha Statues

Buddha statues are one of the most sold
and sought after religious stone statues. Buddha represents the
'Enlightened One', or the learned man. These idols represent the
founder of Buddhist religion, Siddhartha Gautam. According to him,
anyone can attain salvation by giving up all desires and pursuing the
eightfold path.
These idols are not only used for decoration purpose but also for
improving one's mental strength and removing all negative emotions. A
Buddha figure is said to dissipate the feeling of peace, calm and
self-discipline. A Chinese monk named Ho Tai, believed to be the
reincarnation of Buddha is popularly known as the 'Laughing Buddha' or
the 'Happy Buddha'. Laughing Buddha is the most famous idol.
The most common pose of a Buddha statue is in the Lotus Position.
This is a position of meditation symbolizing perfect balance of
thought and tranquility. Another one,is with the right hand raised in
abhayamudra, symbolizing protection and peace. Some Buddha statues are
of famous Bodhisattvas or the followers of Buddha.
Sandstone and soapstone are used the most followed by granite and
limestone and even marble Buddha are available in different finish.
